Dear Fellow Cowboy Action Shooter,
The SASS Idaho State Championship is coming in August, we want to invite you to the to join us. We have made a few changes this year in hopes of improving our match. This year we will be hosting a SASS Idaho State Wild Bunch match on Thursday. The match will consist of 6 stages and cost $25.00 for main match registered shooters and $50.00 for those that only wish to shoot the Wild Bunch match.
This year's theme will be the Best of the West. Our Range Master is busy looking for all the right stages from Cowboy Actions shoots from across the West.
Additionally, we have added some new speed match categories for 22 Caliber Rifle and Pistol. We will also have a long range match pistol competition.
We've also added a new competition for folks to think about. We will be awarding a state traveling trophy to teams that register prior to the main match start. Teams must consist of 5 members with a least 1 Gunfighter/Duelist and 1 Lady Shooter. All shooters on the team must be from the same state.
We want to apologize for the poor dinner provided at the Awards Banquet last year. We have changed our location to the Marriott in Meridian and will be serving Prime Rib and Baked Ham. The venue will be a walk through buffet line. Hopefully the experience will be much better.
The Costume contest for 2010 will be a new improved version from that in the past. There are 7 categories - Cowboy, Cowgirl, Lady, Gentleman, Couples, Military, and Youth. Judging will begin promptly at 6pm at the Marriott. Please be prepared to give a short presentation about your costume, and how it fits into the historic time line. That presentation may be a simple explanation or a short skit in which you adopt the persona of the costume. First place awards will be given, and that person from each category will be asked to give the same presentation to the group. Awards for the costume contest will be prior to the meal. As always we are working on some fun filled stages and activities that will meet your expectations for a Cowboy Action Shooting experience. With any luck dry weather will prevail this year. For all of you that attended last year thank you for your patience with the weather.
Please bring plenty of ammo as the main match will require 240 pistol and rifle rounds and 50 rounds of shotgun. We have lots of side match activities so bring extra.
We do have dry camping available at the range for $20.00 for the entire match, and we have made arrangements with the Boise Gun club to use their facilities as well. They provide electricity and water for a fee of $8.00 per night. They are located 3 miles west of the Range. We will collect the fees for the Boise Gun Club.
