Range Officer Training program
The SASS Range Officer training program, which will include both the Range Officer Basic Training (ROBS) and Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) modules, will be offered in conjunction with the SASS Idaho State Championship the morning of June 4, 2026 from 9am to 1:00pm. SASS recommends that this training be completed every three years. The class will be held in the Central Training Room of the Idaho Fish and Game Building at Blacks Creek Public Range, which is just a short walk from the Cowboy Action Range. The cost for the training class is $30 per person. The fees will be collected at the beginning of the class. You can confirm your attendance on the State registration form or by sending us an email by clicking the Action on the lower right corner. We reserve the right to cancel the class if we have less that eight (8) participants.
camping
Dry camping is available for free at the Cowboy Action Range. In addition, our friends at the Boise Gun Club, which is located about 3 miles west of Blacks Creek Public Range, have extended an invitation to our participants to stay at their range. The cost is $20 per night, which is payable directly to Boise Gun Club. Their rv camp sites have been recently upgraded to include 30 and 50 amp electrical services.
